66 Force Powers from the Star Wars Universe

The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It’s an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together.” — Obi-Wan Kenobi

What is the Force in Star Wars? A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away … there was a powerful and mysterious energy field created by all life that united everything across the universe. This omnipotent essence was known by a variety of names throughout Star Wars history. It was called the Ashla by Lasats, the Life Current by the Mustafarians, the Sight by the Chiss, the Life Wind by Zeffo, the Luminous Mist by the Mist-Weavers, It by the dianoga Omi, and the Great Presence by the people of the Chaos.

While the Force was present in all beings, only some had the innate ability to harness the energy and power. A Force-sensitive individual was a being who was highly attuned with the flow and power of the Force. With training, Force-sensitives could develop the ability to sense and manipulate the Force. Force-sensitive individuals can tap into the light side of the Force or the dark side of the Force.

What Is the Light Side of the Force?

A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense. Never for attack.” — Yoda

On the spectrum of the Force, the light side aligned with selflessness, self-knowledge, compassion, enlightenment, healing, benevolence, and mercy. Those who followed the light side of the Force believed in living in harmony with the world around them, choosing to act out of wisdom and logic rather than impulse and passion. Meditation was often a crucial part to achieving this mental and emotional balance. The Jedi, an ancient order of protectors, were practitioners of the light side of the Force.

What Is the Dark Side of the Force?

But beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression … the dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow. … If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny. Consume you, it will.” — Yoda

The dark side of the Force was fueled by raw emotion such as hatred, aggression, anger, greed, and passion. The Sith were an ancient religious order who were devoted to the dark side of the Force. While the dark side of the Force is not inherently more powerful than the light side, colossal power was more easily and quickly achieved by those who were able to weaponize the intensity of their emotions.

What Are the Most Powerful Force Powers?

The potency of a Force power is directly influenced by the user. Some of the most powerful Force powers include:

  1. Beam of Light — Members of the Neti species could channel the sum of a planet’s Force energy into a colossal beam of light at the moment of their death, causing mass destruction.

  2. Morichro — A powerful technique that could slow down the body functions of the target, putting them in a long-term suspended animation. Few Jedi were permitted to perform Morichro.

  3. Flow-Walking — Rare power that allows user to enter the past, alter it, and change the course of the future.

  4. Force Walk — With immense strength of will, a Sith could bind restless Sith ghosts to themselves, siphoning power. The more unwilling the ghost, the more power could be gained.

  5. Force Storm — This volatile power was capable of creating hyperspace wormholes that could displace objects across vast expanses and tear apart the surface of entire planets.

Kids can pretend they are in the Star Wars universe while on the playground with the Cosmic Crest, Nebular Net, Starship Orbiter, and more. It’s important for kids to exercise their imagination!
